Linda Cardellini wants to return to comedic acting, and the Mad Men actress may soon be getting just what she hoped for.

Warner Bros. is reportedly in the early stages of making a new live action Scooby Doo sequel , one that could have Cardellini reprise her role as Velma in the 2002 movie Scooby-Doo and the 2004 sequel Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed .

The studio is still light on details about the newest Scooby Doo reboot, so it is unclear if Linda Cardellini would be on board again or if they would go in a different direction.

But even if she doesn’t get the role, Cardellini has a big slate of work ahead of her. The 38-year-old actress has already signed on for the latest original offering from Netflix, a yet-to-be-named thriller from Damages creators Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman, and Glenn Kessler. The show focuses on a family of adult siblings who are forced to face their not-so-perfect past when their black sheep oldest brother returns home.

Cardellin has been tapped to play Meg, the youngest of four siblings and a successful attorney.

TVLine has more details about the role:

Meg’s a people-pleaser who uses her smile and charm to navigate all aspects of her life – including her men, her profession and her family. Beneath her buoyant exterior, she is a complex woman with secrets.

Earlier this year, Linda Cardellini also did a stint on The New Girl , playing the free spirited and irresponsible sister of Jess. Cardellini said she is looking forward to doing more comedy in the future.

“Yeah, I would love to do some comedy again,” she told The Hollywood Reporter . “It’s been a while; it would be fun to do something comedic, but at the same time it depends on the role. I loved Bridesmaids. Kristen Wiig is amazing and hilarious, and I thought Paul did an amazing job.”

If she’s tapped for the newest Scooby Doo sequel, Linda Cardellini might just get her chance at doing more comedy.
