Just in time for CES 2011 , Lexar has announced the upcoming arrival of two new backup drives, the Echo MX and ZX. The drives, which are basically USB Sticks are ultra portable while providing 128-bit AES encryption for all of your important data.

On the lower end users will fine the ZX model which comes in 16 and 32GB options with speeds up to 15MBps, while MX buyers have a wider selection of storage sizes including 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. MX users will also receive read speeds of 28MBps and 10MBps for the smaller drives and 30MBps read and 17MBps write speeds for the larger sized 128GB option.

Lexar is giving a Q1 2011 release date with costs ranging from $45 to $500 for the MX units and $45 to $140 for the ZX options.

Are you willing to pay a premium for the added encryption and portability of these rather small backup drives?
