Nicolas Cage’s latest movie, the cinematic adaptation of Left Behind , is looking like it will be the worst-reviewed film of the year.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , even Satan said people should not go see Left Behind . On the movie’s Facebook page , the people in charge of the marketing for Left Behind used a quote attributed to Satan as a way to tell people to “bring someone who needs to see it.”

“‘Please do not bring unbelievers to this movie.’ — Satan”

On the movie review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes , Left Behind only has one positive review out of the 47 featured – registering it at a 2 percent approval rating. That one critic who liked Left Behind is Diana Saenger of Diana Saenger’s Review Express . She gave the film four and a half stars out of a possible five.

“A great cast delivers high drama in this action-thriller.”

The other critics have not been so nice to Left Behind . Christy Lemire of RogerEbert.com said the movie was too tame in displaying the rapture . She even threw in a reference to The Wicker Man , another Cage movie that received a shellacking from critics.

“It should have more smoldering panic bursting into full-blown freak-outs. It should have more passion, more intensity. It should have more bees.”

On his YouTube channel, Chris Stuckmann gave Left Behind a grade of F, calling it “the worst movie [Cage] has ever been in.”

Stuckmann is not the only critic to give the film an F. Entertainment Weekly critic Lindsey Bahr gave Left Behind the same grade .

“At best, ‘Left Behind’ is shoddily made sensationalist propaganda — with atrocious acting — that barely registers as entertainment.”

Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune gave Left Behind zero stars out of a possible four, and slammed Cage for his performance .

“Cage is going for manly, if conflicted, family-guy confidence in this role, but somehow it comes off as nuttier than the events surrounding him.”

The movie, based on the best-selling novel by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye, tells the story of a group of people who survived the rapture. Cage stars as a pilot named Rayford Steele. The movie also stars Chad Michael Murray, Lea Thompson, and Jordin Sparks.

Despite being critically-lambasted, Left Behind might perform well in its limited release. According to Box Office Mojo , the movie opened in 1,825 theaters on Friday and earned $2.36 million. It is expected to earn around $7 million for the weekend.

Are you going to see Left Behind , despite what critics say?
