Leah Messer has dealt with her fair share of drama during her time on Teen Mom 2 , but late last year, things became seemingly more dramatic for the mother of three. Aside from dealing with rumors that she cheated on her husband and that he was messaging other women on Twitter, Leah was also slammed with accusations that she was addicted to drugs.
While appearing on the most recent season of the show, Leah was seen using and talking about her prescription pills. The pills, which were for anxiety, caused some side effects for the Teen Mom 2 star which were played up on the show. That only gave people the opportunity to sell more stories about Leah Messer and her alleged drug use. A source who claimed to sell pills that weren’t prescribed to Leah spoke to InTouch about her alleged habit .
“I’ve seen Leah pop a handful of pills, chew them like they were candy and swallow them. She doesn’t even need anything to wash them down with. It’s [actually] the pain from withdrawal that bothers her, not her back. She can’t go a day without opiates.”
In December 2014, Leah Messer and Corey Simms went to court over custody of their twin daughters, Ali and Aleeah. Corey and his wife, Miranda, felt that the twins would be better off residing with them full-time, but they did not win full-custody. Rather, the custody agreement stayed virtually unchanged with Corey Simms being granted only an extra day a week with his girls. At first, some fans wondered how Leah Messer was able to keep custody, especially with all the drug abuse claims, but a new source tells InTouch Weekly (via Radar Online) that Leah took – and passed – a hair follicle drug test before the custody dispute was settled.
“She was a nervous wreck. When the results came back, she was ecstatic.”
There has never been any hard proof that Leah Messer abused drugs of any kind, just plenty of rumors. Of course, as most of the cast of Teen Mom 2 knows, they will probably always be defending themselves against crazy rumors, especially when the show is filming or airing. In fact, as previously reported by the Inquisitr, although Leah initially declined to be a part of the sixth season of the show, she eventually signed on and is even filming with MTV now.
“She’s telling everyone she’s determined to make a complete turnaround. She’s ready to clean up the wreckage from her past.”
Despite all the drama going on around them, Leah Messer and Jeremy Calvert are working hard on their marriage and aren’t ready to call it quits.
