Lea Michele is still reeling from the death of boyfriend Cory Monteith, but sources say she’s almost ready to dip her toe into the dating pool again.
Sources close to the 27-year-old actress say she is looking into relationships again , and was recently overhead talking about a “cute boy” she met at a Hollywood ‘party.
“She was excited [the cute guy] was coming,” the insider told Us Weekly .
This week marked the public memorial for Monteith in Glee’s special tribute episode. While the episode was a chance for the show’s characters to bid farewell to Monteith’s character, Finn Hudson, it was also an opportunity for the real-life actors to remember Cory Monteith off the screen.
“We had a beautiful memorial for Cory in the auditorium and some of the cast members sang and people spoke about him,” Lea Michele said of the tribute episode. “It only felt right that we would do the same thing for Finn, so I felt it was very therapeutic.”
Cory Monteith died two months ago in a Vancouver hotel room from what medical examiners determined to be a fatal mix of heroin and alcohol. Lea Michele had been supportive of Moneith as he fought his substance addiction, issuing a message praising Cory when he decided to go to rehab in April.
Though Michele is making steps toward moving on in her private life, she’s already decided to move on publicly. Glee creator Ryan Murphy had told TV LINE in the days after Monteith’s death that he gave Lea a choice to stay on the show or not.
Lea said leaving the show was never a question for her.
“Everyone is asking: ‘Is it hard to do this? Is it hard to be back at work?’, but the truth is it’s no harder at work than it is in life so we might as well all be together as a family supporting each other to get through this together. I feel like, for me personally, I’ve lost two people: Cory and Finn.”
If Lea Michele does start dating again, it will likely be under a veil of privacy. After Monteith’s death she has been guarded in her public statements and appearances, preferring to grieve in private.
