After a not-so-inviting week, in which Lana Del Rey was targeted by rapper Eminen in his latest release, some highly-counteractive and exciting news has been revealed in regards to the release of Del Rey’s own musical creations. Well-known, original and always impressive director Tim Burton will be including two of Del Rey’s songs in his upcoming film, Big Eyes . The film focuses on Margaret Keane, an American artist who produced masterpieces in the 1950’s and 60’s of “big-eyed” children, over which false accusations were made.

The producer of this greatly anticipated movie, Larry Karaszewski, described to The Hollywood Reporter how it was love at first sight when Del Rey viewed the film which will be released on Christmas Day.

“Tim showed her the film and she fell in love with it…Women in particular seem to get the movie, and Lana really got the movie. The whole thing is about a woman who can’t find her voice…Lana’s song expresses what Margaret is feeling so perfectly, it’s like a soliloquy of her inner thoughts.”

Spin Magazine notes that Del Rey’s contributions to the film’s soundtrack are titled “I Can Fly,” which plays over the end credits, and “Big Eyes,” which receives a prominent mid-film spot; both have been acclaimed as suiting the movie to perfection.

The exceptionally talented 29-year-old Del Rey, who began her singer-songwriter career at the age of 18, is no stranger to bringing sensational melodies to the big screen. Her song “Young and Beautiful,” which complemented the visually electric remake of The Great Gatsby, was acclaimed by music and movie-lovers alike. In addition, Lana was featured on the Maleficent sound track with her stirring cover of “Once Upon A Dream.” Critics were certain that Del Rey’s soundtrack contributions were set for award success. This, therefore, all leads to the big question: which of Lana Del Rey’s apparently emotionally-charged Big Eyes tracks will be put forth for awards? Although The Hollywood Reporter admits “‘I Can Fly’ may sound a bit more airplay-friendly,” it is more likely that the “boldly spotlighted title song (“Big Eyes”) will be their designated hitter in this suddenly crowded category, where Del Rey will be competing for a spot amid other big-name contenders…”

Awards aside, however, it is almost a certainty that the mixed creative genius of Lana Del Rey’s ballads and renown eccentricities of Burton’s cinematic creation will unite to bring magic in the greatly-anticipated film, Big Eyes.
