The LaCie USB-Powered DVD Burner design by Sam Hecht has just been announced and the unit doesn’t require an AC adapter. The new portable drive also features both Windows PC and Mac configurations and is very reasonably priced.
The drive offers a variety of DVD and CD format support and can burn DVD’s at 8X speeds with CD burn rates up to 24x. The drive is also ultra portable with a weight under one pound and a size less than one inch tall.
The DVD burner can be purchased directly from the LaCie website for a cost of $90 (Windows Version) and $120 for Mac enthusiasts. The portable USB-burner is also equipped with Toast 9 Basic for Macs and Creator Suite 10 with LightScribe for Windows systems.
The unit also comes with a USB 2.0 cable and the power-sharing cable. [via Electronista ]
