Actress Kristin Cavallari has never been known for biting her tongue or holding back her strong opinions on any topic.
Perhaps that is why MTV fans and critics fell in love with the 28-year-old reality star during her stints on the reality series, Laguna Beach and The Hills .

In a recent interview with Elle magazine, Cavallari took the opportunity to talk about Laguna Beach yet again — claiming that it did not turn out how she initially expected when the show started.
“No one knew what the show was going to become, obviously. I had envisioned it being like … do you remember True Life on MTV? I thought it was going to be like that. None of us knew that it was going to be turned into a soap opera.”
The True Life series on MTV has never been viewed as a reality TV series. Since it first premiered in 1998, True Life has always been filmed as a documentary series — capturing people’s real-life struggles in the real world.
However, most reality show fans would likely agree that Laguna Beach felt more like watching an episode of The Real World than True Life . For instance, the apparent love triangle that pitched Lauren Conrad against Kristin Cavallari quickly became the biggest part of her story on the show.

Surprisingly, Kristin claims that she did not even know the love triangle existed until the “soap opera” had already taken off with it.
“I also didn’t realize the love triangle was going on. Stephen [Colletti] was my real boyfriend, so that was really difficult for me to watch. Even though a lot of it was manipulated and for the show, it’s still hard to see your boyfriend going and hanging out with a girl that he probably normally wouldn’t. It was tough for me.”
In the years that have passed since Laguna Beach and The Hills ended, Kristin Cavallari has remained in the Hollywood spotlight. Instead of hopping into another reality TV series, Cavallari has made appearances on numerous televised competition series — such as guest judging Cupcake Wars and America’s Next Top Model .

Cavallari also starred in the 13th season of Dancing with the Stars , but was eliminated from the competition in its third week.
