Not surprisingly, Kristen Bell has been added to the cast of husband Dax Shepard’s CHiPS remake.

After taking the summer off to spend time with her two daughters, Lincoln, 2, and Delta, 9 months, Kristen Bell is ready to hop back into acting. The CHiPs remake has her husband wearing just about every hat possible, as he is writing, directing, producing, and starring in the film. Shepard will be reprising Larry Wilcox’s role of Jon Baker and will be working next to Michael Peña, who will be playing Erik Estrada’s character of Frank “Ponch” Poncherello. Vincent D’Onofrio will be joining them as a villain who is the head of a car theft ring who “happens to be a ruthless former cop.” Adam Brody and Rosa Salazar will also be in the film, but their roles have yet to be announced.

Shepard has said that the FBI will play a role in the film as well, and that the tone is more serious than the series, but promised that the khaki pants are still tight . Thank goodness.

Shepard, who has been married to Kristen Bell since 2013, will be producing the film with his company, Primate Pictures, with Andrew Panay. Rick Rosher, who created the series, has signed on as the film’s executive producer. CHiPs ran on NBC from 1977-1983, and featured Estrada and Wilcox as California Highway Patrol officers who rock aviator shades and ride motorcycles. Oh, they fight crime, too. According to Deadline , Shepard, who is no stranger to race cars or motorcycles, will be doing his own stunt work.

Kristen Bell said in May that her and Shepard try to “have only one parent working at a time.” After Bell’s smash hit Frozen , she starred in The Boss , also featuring Melissa McCarthy. She also spoke of her summer plans.

“I’m going to mommy them the whole summer. I’m going to take my girls out and about, and do crafts and art projects. We just got a bunch of plants at the farmers market and we’re going to plant a big garden this summer.”

Kristen Bell has done work with Funny or Die as well, doing shorts like “ Kristen Bell’s Body of Lies ,” “ The McLovin Fund ,” and “ Mary Poppins Quits With Kristen Bell .” Most recently, Bell appeared on Jimmy Kimmel to read mean tweets about herself.

If Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard’s past collaborations are any indicator [think 2013’s Hit and Run ], as well as the fact that they basically inspired the “relationship goals” trend because they are that adorable, then this CHiPs remake will be epic.
