Game of Thrones fans have spent months debating whether or not Jon Snow will return from the dead in one fashion or another, and now actor Kit Harington appears to have inadvertently revealed the future of his most famous character.

While recently promoting his film Testament of Youth , Harington spoke with Humo , a Belgian magazine, about the fate of Jon Snow and his future with Game of Thrones . The interview was shared by a Reddit user, who translated key quotes into English, as the Huffington Post reports.
“… I had to pass on amazing parts because I was attached to Game of Thrones . So the show is like a double-edged sword to me: I owe a lot to it, but at the same time it almost completely consumes me… Oh well, I try not to think about it too much. The important thing is that I now know exactly how long I am still under contract, and in the meantime — “

If that quote wasn’t enough to send Game of Thrones fans into a state of shock, Harington’s next statement sealed the deal. When asked how many more seasons fans could expect to see Jon Snow on the show, the actor noted the limits of what he could talk about, before alluding to a long future for the newest Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch.
“I can’t talk about that. Let’s just say that Game of Thrones will remain a part of my life for a while; I’ll probably be in my 30s when it’s over. One thing’s for sure: the day I’m no longer on Thrones is the day I’ll bury myself in movie projects [laughs].”

Fan theories have run rampant since the end of Game of Thrones’ fifth season, spawning a worldwide movement that keeps track of Harington’s every move, as the Daily Beast points out. Fans have suggested that Snow could return as a White Walker, warg into his direwolf, or even rejoin the land of the living through Melisandre’s connection to the Lord of Light.

Two caveats bear mentioning, however. The interview was undated when it surfaced on Reddit, and Harington’s contract isn’t necessarily a guarantee that Jon Snow will appear onscreen during a season (rather, it is a potentially seven-season-long commitment that some fans have suggested is a way to keep the true lifespans of characters under wraps). Whatever the future holds for Jon Snow, however, Kit Harington most certainly knows what it is, as the sixth season of Game of Thrones is currently filming.
