Kit Harrington is talented, gorgeous, rich, and famous; and while he wouldn’t be where he is without your sighs and wishes, he just isn’t feeling all the attention his role as Jon Snow is attracting. The Game of Thrones star feels objectified, and he experiences sexism every time he’s asked to take off his shirt.
This revelation isn’t much of a revelation. He mentioned that he found the title of “hunk” demeaning in a PageSix article last March.
“It really is and it’s in the same way as it is for women. When an actor is seen only for her physical beauty, it can be quite offensive.”
Fast forward a year, and Kit Harington is still annoyed that he is being defined by his physique. He believes there is a double standard in Hollywood when it comes to sexism.

According to Quartz , the classically trained English actor just wants to be taken seriously , but he feels that his popularity may stifle his career. Apparently, the long-suffering idol isn’t comfortable with all of the attention that his bedroom eyes, rock-hard abs, and chiseled facial features are getting, and he feels that his looks are taking over his art.
“I like to think of myself as more than a head of hair or a set of looks.”
Good luck with that Kit. Men are visiting the salon to dupe his do’; it’s gone past appreciating his skills as a thespian, which is a shame. You can’t put that genie back in the bottle.
“I don’t want to seem ungrateful — I’m lucky. But I can’t say that I like a lot of attention a lot of the time.”
This is a sad story and a serious issue — how can we make Kit Harington more comfortable? First, we can acknowledge that there is sexism in the entertainment industry towards men.
“It’s demeaning. Yes, in some ways you could argue I’ve been employed for a look I have. But there’s a sexism that happens towards men. There’s definitely a sexism in our industry that happens towards women, and there is towards men as well.”
Noted, but the reaction to his woes had been mixed, partly because Harington seems to be confusing sexism with objectification, and many feel his complaints are coming off as whining about the trappings of fame. From where the rest of us are sitting, he is living the dream, so it is hard for the average bloke to sympathize.

There are those who sympathize with his plight. It’s hard looking that good, being that talented, and getting all those perks because of it. It’s a lot of pressure being a commodity, but his fans had his back.

Are we guilty of objectifying Kit Harington? Certainly. Will we continue even after he has shared his anguish? Absolutely. That ship has sailed. He got the gig in part because of his curb appeal so what does he want us to do? Not look at him? He put himself in the position of being eye candy and now he has buyer’s remorse?
Kit Harington can be objectified every Sunday on Game of Thrones and at the Duke of York Theatre in London starring in Dr. Fautus.
