KFC is quickly building a bad reputation for questionable items being fried and disguised in the flaky chicken batter. Last week, there was the “deep-fried, rat-gate” debacle, where one customer shared photos of what appeared to be a fried rat. Now, there’s yet another claim about something other than chicken being found in a KFC box. However, this time the horrific item wasn’t even fried. In fact, it looks completely raw.
On Saturday, June 20, a Redditor with the username Blergmonkeys posted a disturbing image of an empty chicken box that has left many viewers utterly disgusted. Apparently, the user ordered chicken breast , but judging from the photo, it doesn’t appear the order was filled correctly, according to Death and Taxes magazine.
“Pretty sure that’s not a chicken breast,” the KFC customer wrote.
Since the photo comes less than a week after the infamous “fried rat,” of course, an overwhelming number of viewers wasted no time sharing their opinion of the disgusting entree and the fast food restaurant chain. However, there were some users who actually defended KFC by attempting to identify the questionable piece of meat. Although many insist it looks similar to a bird’s brain, some Redditors argue that the meat is actually a chicken’s kidneys , reports the Mirror . However, regardless of what the mysterious meat is, most have agreed that they won’t be stopping by KFC anytime soon.
Though the latest KFC claim still remains a mystery, it has been reported that the “fried rat” claim has been debunked, reports ABC News . The company reportedly had a DNA test of the piece of meat and it turns out the meat was identified as real chicken. KFC has released a statement confirming the results of the DNA test.
“Recently, a customer questioned the quality of a KFC product, and this received considerable publicity given the sensational nature of his claim,” the company said in a statement released on June 22. “On Friday, the customer’s attorney turned over the product in question for testing at an independent lab, and the results officially confirmed what KFC knew all along — the product was chicken and not a rat as he claimed.”
