A Louisville, Kentucky delivery man was stabbed and carjacked on the job, but still managed to deliver the pizza before he finally collapsed.

Willow Rouben, the regional manager for Spinelli’s Pizzeria, said 25-year-old Josh Lewis left the restaurant, located at 5th and Jefferson streets, on his way to deliver pizzas to Norton Healthcare downtown. Lewis arrived at the hospital at approximately 2:45 p.m. A short while later, he was attacked.

Josh was stabbed in the back by someone who had allegedly tailed him to the hospital. The suspect then proceeded to steal Lewis’ car. Despite his injury, Josh was somehow able to make it into the emergency room, where he delivered the pizzas and then collapsed.

“It’s surreal. I can’t believe it happened to him,” Rouben said. “As he was taking the pizzas out of his car and walking to deliver the pizza, he was stabbed in the back. Believe it or not, he got his pizzas delivered and collapsed in the ER.”

Lewis is currently listed as being in stable condition after undergoing surgery for a collapsed lung at the U of L Hospital.

“He was coherent. He’s just an amazing kid and we’re all praying for him. We haven’t stopped thinking about him,” Rouben said.

Rouben says he doesn’t know how this happened. He explained that the company takes many precautionary actions to protect their employees, including their delivery drivers.

“This is unusual,” he told W DRB . “We take a lot of precautions about safety to our drivers. We take credit cards after 12 a.m. so they’re not walking around with a lot of cash. So this is just… I think it’s just a carjacking.”

Carey Klain, a spokeswoman for Louisville police, said that the suspect, described as a black man in his 40’s, fled the scene in a black Jeep Cherokee with gold racing stripes and light blue trim, according to Wave 3 News . The vehicle has a Michigan license plate with the number CDY6122.

It looks as though Lewis is trying to make light of the situation. Earlier today, Lewis posted a message on Facebook that read: “I didn’t get a good tip on that last delivery.”

Lewis, originally from Detroit, is a student at Boyce College, the undergraduate school at Southern Seminary.

Anyone with any information regarding the investigation is being asked to contact police at 574-LMPD (5673).
