It is safe to say that the relationship between Katy Perry and John Mayer has been an unstable engagement. According to sources close to them, the pop stars have decided to go their separate ways once again, and this time it could be final.
As reported New York Daily News, it is still unknown as to why the couple chose to end their intermittent romance, however, their most recent split does not rule out the possibility of reconciliation in the future.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr , John Mayer used his Twitter account to express his sadness.
“I wouldn’t feel right posting anything else before saying my heart hurts today,” the 37-year-old singer-songwriter wrote.
Katy, meanwhile, wrote: “The bad news: there is no key to the universe. The good news: it was never locked.”

A source with Radar Online gave a possible reason behind the split.
“The reason they have split in the past is because Katy gets busy. John can’t handle the lack of attention, and she can’t handle the trust issues she has when she’s so far away,” the source said. “So they’ve learned that it’s better to just take a break when they can’t be in the same place.”
However, another source has a different opinion on why the couple split: John had become increasingly jealous of Katy’s success.
“The fact that he does not have anything major going on with his career is really starting to take a toll on their relationship,” the insider revealed. “Katy is at an all-time high. She is starting to give in to what everyone around her is saying, that maybe she is too good for him.”
The couple’s breakup is bad news for Katy Perry fans (or good, depending how you look at it). The singer is single once again after having ended her troubled relationship with John Mayer. But as most know, this is not the first time they have called it quits. Since divorcing Russell Brand in 2012, John has been her on/off boyfriend.
Since the couple began their relationship back in 2012, the comings and goings have been a constant throughout. If you’ve ever listened closely to the theme of Katy Perry’s song, “Hot & Cold,” which talks about indecision within a relationship, you can imagine how easy it is for Katy to relate the song lyrics to her romance with John Mayer.
