Brent Musberger, who got into some hot water over his infatuation with Katherine Webb during the BCS Championship game, is still a player. At the end of last night’s Baylor-Kansas basketball game, he referred to sideline reporter Holly Rowe as “really smokin’ tonight.”
This is the way Musberger signed off the ESPN NCAA basketball broadcast:
“Once again, your final score, Kansas 61, Baylor 44. Coming up next, SportsCenter. For Fran Franschilla and Holly Rowe, who was really smokin’ tonight, I want to say ‘so long from Lawrence.’ “
In the aftermath of the Katherine Webb-Brent Musburger controversy, the Bleacher Report was not impressed with what Brent had to say:
“Is it too much to ask for Musburger to comment on the game and the game alone? As diehard basketball fans, we deserve that much, don’t we? In an era dominated by reality TV shows and sitcoms, some of us just want to relax on the couch and watch a basketball game.
“Instead, we have to listen to a 73-year-old drone on about how attractive the nearest striking female is.”

According to Big Lead Sports , an ESPN spokesman claims that Musburger actually said “it” was really smokin’ tonight but the website adds that “If Brent said ‘it,’ what was he talking about? What was smoking about a rout? Neither team shot particularly well.”
