Kate Middleton will reportedly be welcoming a new baby girl in a few months but has decided to scrap some time-honored traditions, sources close to the royal couple indicate.

While the royal palace has yet to confirm the sex of Kate’s second child, a number of reports indicate that Prince George is about to have a little sister. The latest reports claim that Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton threw a baby shower that was filled with pink decorations, a telltale sign that Kate is having a girl .

These rumors seem to confirm report from last month that Kate and William told friends they were expecting a baby girl. In its November 24 issue, Life & Style magazine cited sources claiming that Kate Middleton had spilled details about the gender of baby No. 2.

“They’re both thrilled,” says the magazine’s royal insider.

The report added that Queen Elizabeth II “loves the idea of Kate and William having a boy and a girl.” But Kate Middleton may be bucking tradition, with reports that she doesn’t like the use of pink for a girl’s nursery and instead wants to make it a bit more fashionable.

“Kate wants more neutral palettes like creams and beiges,” the source explained.

Kate Middleton will have some time to discuss her choices with the Queen in a few weeks. Sources say she and Prince William plan to spend part of Christmas with the royal monarch, though Kate plans to again buck tradition on the holiday. A source told the Independent that Kate and William will spend part of the day by themselves at their lavish Anmer Hall residence.

The source told Grazia Magazine .

“William spoke to the Queen about doing their own thing, especially since Kate has been suffering with acute morning sickness. He thought it would be nice for her to have a low-key Christmas. The Queen agreed. Kate, William and George will join the royal family on Christmas morning before parting ways until Boxing Day. They will rejoin on Boxing Day for the annual shoot.”

If Kate Middleton is having a girl, she still has some time to get the nursery prepared. Kate is due in April.
