Kate Middleton is reportedly pregnant, but though rumors are spreading quickly around the internet and tabloid magazines, the royal palace has been silent.
The Duchess of Cambridge has actually been facing pregnancy rumors for several months. There were reports dating back to the late winter that Kate was pregnant, with many claiming that she was having twins.
But those reports were squashed when Kate was photographed sipping whiskey with her husband Prince William.
The previous reports always centered on unnamed sources. The latest pregnancy rumors come straight from a source close to Kate — her longtime friend, Jessica Hay.
Hay told New Idea magazine that Kate Middleton is pregnant, with an official confirmation coming within a few weeks.
“Kate’s inner circle are buzzing with the news that she is pregnant,” Hay told the Australian publication. “I’ve heard it from several different friends of theirs now and they’re saying that they think there’s going to be an official announcement in weeks.”
Jessica Hay was actually the one who broke news of Kate’s first pregnancy in 2012. She didn’t have any hard proof that Kate Middleton is pregnant this time, but said the signs are clear.
“Kate’s face is fuller like it was when she was first expecting George and she’s been changing her hair, which could be to disguise the fullness,” Hay said. “She has rosy cheeks, she’s letting her greys show again, and whenever she’s out in public she goes to great lengths to hold something over her tummy…”
Though the reports of Kate’s pregnancy have spread quickly around the internet and garnered coverage from all corners of the globe, the royal family has not issued any official statement .
Many insiders believe that the royal palace would prefer to wait until later in the pregnancy to confirm. They did let the world know early in Kate’s first pregnancy, but that was only after she was admitted to the hospital to be treated for dehydration brought on by severe morning sickness.
If it is true that Kate Middleton is pregnant, it won’t be official until the royal palace finally decides to confirm it.
