As 2014 winds down and the festive period rapidly approaches, the usual end of year polls and surveys hit the news headlines a few times daily.
In this case, a survey of 1,000 American women, conducted by online clothing subscription company LeTote.com , has found that Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Jennifer Lopez, the singer and actress, are the top two fashion trendsetters of 2014.
You can check the full top ten list, as published by LeTote below. As you can see, J-Lo and Kate are closely followed by Beyoncé and Angelina Jolie, although the shocker is that fashion conscious Kim Kardashian came in 10th.
The fact that a member of the royal family, in the form of young Kate Middleton , is even on such a list, let alone in second place, is a credit to her indeed, as the majority of the rest of the top ten are pop stars.
The LeTote list of the top ten trendsetters for 2014 reads as follows.

The enlightening survey also revealed details about how women in America view trends, with 87 percent of those questioned saying they followed fashion trends, while one on five women admitted to spending up to $500 per month on fashion related items .
A spokeswoman from LeTote said this to reporters.
“Because of the pressure from celebrity mags, women feel a ton of pressure to constantly be wearing the newest trends. Unfortunately, most women don’t have the luxury of a personal stylist and an unlimited budget. Combine that with all of their outfits getting broadcast on social media, and looking fashionable has never been so pricey.’Most women today scratch the itch of variety by buying low-cost, low-quality pieces with a short shelf life because they want to have the most up to date wardrobe.”
Perhaps Kate Middleton figures so highly on the list because she is not obliged to buy “low-cost, low-quality pieces”?
