Kanye West just released his new single “Champions” from the upcoming album Cruel Winter this weekend. BGR was one of the sites that reported on the release .
“Kanye West surprised fans on Friday with the first single from Cruel Winter , a brand new album that will feature several collaborations. Cruel Winter is the rumored sequel to Cruel Summer , an album coming from Kanye and G.O.O.D Music. The first untitled track is already available to listen online, while we wait for it to make it to iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, and other online music streaming/stores.”
Unfortunately for Kanye, the comments after the article were universally negative.
“This is one thing iOS fans and Android fans can agree on! Kanye West SUCKS!!!!” exclaims Heatfan316.
“Wow, that was crap. Without auto-tune, this pompous jackazz [sic] would have no career,” says Qbarrel.
Even though UPROXX likes Kanye’s new song, their readers aren’t thrilled.
“As for this track, there is a lot going on to where there are like too many sounds clashing at times…Need a few more spins given how cluttered it sounds,” says JohnQ2Boogie.
“It’s aight [sic]. Not really feeling Travis on here. And i didn’t hear Desiigner on here outside of the “bdldldldldaaaah” on Gucci’s verse. Chainz killed his verse though,” claims Leegle.
Fortunately, the response to “Champions” was more positive on Twitter.

Speaking of Kanye West, he recently announced a surprise concert this weekend that never happened. The Verge has the news .
“So what happens when one of the biggest rappers in the world announces a surprise late-night show in a city that, just earlier that day, was denied the chance to seem him? A heck of a lot of people show up to see what the surprise is. A little after 1AM, Kanye tweeted that the Webster Hall show was sold out, even though it’s unclear if any tickets were actually sold at all.”
The article adds that Kanye tried to get in touch with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, asking if the show could take place outside to accommodate the giant crowd. Then, just before 2 a.m., with hundreds waiting outside, Webster Hall announced that the show had been cancelled, even though the venue didn’t actually confirm its existence in the first place.
Billboard described the scene outside as a near-riot situation.
“But the unruly scene that took place outside of Manhattan’s Webster Hall during the early hours of Monday, June 6 was an unfortunate reflection of a mostly young fan base thirsty to touch the hem of Yeezus’ garment at any cost.”
Billboard added that every time the doors of Webster Hall opened to allow about 20 people in the entrance, the glut of fans waiting behind those rushed forward with no regard for the safety of others. There were people shouting warnings that someone would get injured or killed if the crowd didn’t ease up.
Others say the reports of “near riots” have been exaggerated, and the fact that there were no arrests made prove this. Either way, many people missed out on a Kanye West performance. However, for some, missing out on a Kanye West performance isn’t really a bad thing.
