Kanye West’s recent hospitalization could see him being paid millions of dollars because he had taken out a health insurance policy. However, he did not fake his illness so he could cash in on the cover as some critics suggest.
West had cleverly taken out an insurance policy, which stipulates that he should be compensated if ever he was unable to perform due to illness. Now, it looks like the insurance policy might finally be put to use since the superstar was recently hospitalized. According to a recent discovery by TMZ, the insurance policy is supposed to pay the artist the money that he would have earned had the illness not forced him to cancel his tour. He is also supposed to be compensated for the money that he would have used to pay others.

West will, however, receive the compensation depending on his psychosis diagnosis. He may also not be eligible for compensation if he had a preexisting condition that he did not reveal to the insurance company or if the illness in question was caused by unreasonable behavior. This means that the insurer might refuse to issue the compensation amount. Sources claim that Kanye reported that he lost about $30 million from the remaining concerts that were forfeited due to his medical emergency.
“The policy provides the insurance carrier will pay Kanye for not only the money he’d make but the money he was obligated to pay others if ‘accident or illness … prevents any Insured Person from appearing or continuing to appear in any or all of the Insured Performance(s) or Event(s),” the policy states .
The negative criticism against the artist seeks to discredit this on the grounds that he might have intentionally faked his health condition so that he can receive the payment. However, West’s insurance claim was legitimate, and he will most likely be paid when and if the medical reports are concluded in his favor. West clearly overexerted himself because he had a tight schedule, and he was juggling a lot of work between his clothing line and his Saint Pablo tour. Performing live on stage is not an easy task, plus all the traveling most likely wore him out.
It is not clear whether Kanye’s health had anything to do with his rants, especially the recent one where he paused in the middle of his performance at a concert. His rants have been found to be very unusual. During his performance in Sacramento on Sunday, the rapper stormed off the stage after performing three songs. He later canceled the rest of his scheduled performances for the year.
“There are methods, non-political methods to speaking that I like, that I feel were very futuristic. That style and that method of communication have proven that it can beat a politically correct way of communication, and I f*** with that,” West told the crowd.

The insurance policy that Kanye took out is designed for artists, so they are prepared for instances where they are unable to meet their performance commitment due to illness. What this means for artists is that they can recover without having to worry that they missed out because they fell ill. They should be able to meet their needs and financial goals as they would have if there not been any interruption.
Since he was hospitalized, Kanye’s security detail has been seen patrolling the hospital grounds. This highlights the fact that he and his wife Kim are not taking any chances as far as security is concerned ever since Kim’s robbery incident in Paris. Kim’s security detail has also been beefed up.
