Kacey Musgraves didn’t look too happy about losing Best Female Vocalist at the County Music Association Awards.

Though Musgraves still had an amazing night, winning the New Artist of the Year trophy and turning in a fantastic performance of her hit “Follow Your Arrow,” when it came time to award the biggest prize for female country singers, she couldn’t muster up much of a smile .

When Miranda Lambert was announced as the winner of Best Female Vocalist, Kacey Musgraves was seen stewing in her seat with a frown on her face.

Some have hinted that there could be a rivalry brewing between Lambert and Musgraves, but there isn’t much evidence to back that up. The two have collaborated in the past, with Kacey Musgraves writing the hit song “Mama’s Broken Heart” for Lambert. Miranda also made sure to acknowledge and congratulate Kacey when she won the award.

And Musgraves didn’t seem too unhappy when she took the stage to accept the Best New Artist award.

“This first year for me has just been indescribable… I feel very thankful. Thank you so much,” she said.

Though she may have missed out on Best Female Vocalist, Kacey Musgraves still has quite a year to look back on.

She admitted she wasn’t even expecting a CMA nomination, but when the nominees were announced in September, she found herself tied with Taylor Swift with six nominations.

Musgraves was nominated as a singer, songwriter, and producers with album, female vocalist, new artist, single, and two different song of the year entries. She and Swift became the first two females ever to lead nominations in a year.

“I had no idea I’d make history,” Kacey said. “It’s really cool, I love that… to be recognized for all those things makes me feel good.”

Kacey Musgraves also went on her first headlining tour, The Same Trailer Different Tour, ending with a show on Halloween.
