Julia Roberts has at times been America’s reigning sweetheart, but little sister Nancy Motes had a harsh accusation about her famous sibling.
In interviews and movies, Julia Roberts always seems to be just really nice . But the actress wasn’t always kind, Motes says, and even was a bit of a mean girl… even after high school.
Nancy says sis Julia bullied her more than once about her weight — which fluctuated, and once neared 300 pounds.
Roberts ‘ little sister says that the criticism from Julia was so bad she underwent weight loss surgery to feel better about herself. Motes said:
“When I was in high school and she was an adult, she would just let me know that I was definitely overweight. She would make it quite clear to me and in a not so nice manner.”

Saying that “when you’re in a family of very, very beautiful people it’s intimidating,” Motes added of her famous older sister’s effects on her overall:
“I think growing up as Pretty Woman ‘s little sister has definitely made me try to see the person inside and not the person outside. A lot of my life I felt judged for my weight.”
It also seemed Nancy was keen on following in Julia’s footsteps. But the elder Roberts? Not so much:
“Julia did not want to see me go down that path. So I just got a lot of criticism from Julia, which was very discouraging for me.”
Julia Roberts hasn’t confirmed, nor has she denied the allegations.
