Joss Whedon has joined Twitter, as of last night. (But isn’t yet verified.)
Joss Whedon’s Twitter account, @JossActual, already has garnered more than 40,000 followers, most of whom will tweet at you that you have to watch ‘Buffy’ if you engage with them, so be careful.
Shortly after midnight, Whedon kicked off his Twitter reign by sending his first tweet, telling fellow Twitter users:
“It’s me! Joss! My own account! No more hiding under studio skirts! I’m FREE! @MuchAdoFilm @AgentsofSHIELD @Marvel @roadsidetweets #free”
And of course, Twitter users welcomed Joss Whedon — by retweeting his tweet, chiding him for taking so long, or even taking issue with his handle:
“@JossActual You do realize that having ‘actual’ or ‘real’ or ‘official’ in one’s Twitter handle makes you sound totally fake.”
Another user quipped:
“Get Firefly on HBO and we’ll believe you MT @JossActual: It’s me! Joss! My own account! No more hiding under studio skirts!”
Yet another joked about the travails of Whedon fans in general:
“Joss Whedon is officially on Twitter. prepare for you hearts to be broken in a new medium. Welcome, @JossActual.”
One fan teased:
“Joss Whedon is on Twitter. Guarantee even the most mundane tweets will be awesome (’til someone is killed off and his Twitter is cancelled.)”
Joss Whedon’s Twitter was opened with this tweet, reading:
