While Johnny Depp is still one of the hottest and most adored actors in recent memory, the guy who started on 21 Jump Street in the 80s may be hanging up his dreadlocks and calling off his love affair with Tim Burton.
Yes, fangirls, Johnny Depp is at least considering retiring after three decades in show biz, saying that the Hollywood life can be grueling — and that he’s been in the game for a long time.
Depp recently spoke about his acting future, and hinted that he may call time on movies sooner rather than later, presumably much to the dismay of fangirls worldwide.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, the 50-year-old heartthrob says that after a generation in the limelight, he’s reflecting on the work he does and how he feels about acting going forward.
Depp explained :
“When you add up the amount of dialogue that you say per year, for example, and you realize that you’ve said written words more than you’ve actually had a chance to say your own words, you start thinking about that as kind of an insane option for a human being.”
So how much longer will Johnny Depp be gracing our screens? He addressed that too, adding :
“I can’t say that I’d want to be doing this for another 10 years… At a certain point, when you get old enough or get a few brain cells back, you realize that, on some level, you lived a life of a fugitive.”
We haven’t seen the last of the Pirates Of The Caribbean star, though — he’s got about five projects on the go , but he says retirement is pretty much a given after that:
“Are there quieter things that I wouldn’t mind doing? Yeah. I wouldn’t say that I’m dropping out any second, but I would say that’s probably not too far away.”
