John Travolta sure knows how to make the Oscars awkward, and he delivered again this year when he gave an unsuspecting Scarlett Johansson a kiss during the red carpet festivities.
Johansson was posing for photographs and showing off her emerald green Vesace dress when Travolta snuck up from behind, putting his hand on her waist and planting a kiss on her cheek . The act clearly surprised Scarlett, and made fans watching at home uncomfortable as well.
Many of them took to Twitter to voice their discomfort.

John Travolta made for an awkward moment last year as well, mispronouncing Frozen singer Idina Menzel’s name as “Adele Dazeem.”
Travolta later apologized and even poked fun at his pronunciation difficulties .
“I’ve been beating myself up all day,” he said afterward. “Then I thought… what would Idina Menzel say, She’d say, Let it go, let it go! Idina is incredibly talented and I am so happy Frozen took home two Oscars Sunday night!”
The awkward moment may have actually helped Idina Menzel. After the show she was getting more buzz than any of the winners, and her already strong performance was made more memorable by Travolta’s flub.
“Idina has nerves of steel and pipes of gold,” said the song’s Oscar-winning co-writer Robert Lopez. “And she’s getting more attention because of the Travolta thing.”
It doesn’t seem as likely that Scarlett Johansson would benefit from her creepy kiss from John Travolta, and judging by her expression she probably would have preferred he stay out of her personal space.
