John Stamos is keeping fans in the loop post-rehab. In an interview with Details magazine , John Stamos, who is currently busy booting up the Full House spin-off show for Netflix, Fuller House, opened up about his struggle. For Stamos, everything blew up in his face once his mother passed.

“I’ve had a rough year with my mom dying, so it all came to a head, and it was a turning point.”

The Full House star continued, “You either continue on that path—and some of it’s fun, but a lot of it’s not—or there’s this other thing, this golden opportunity sitting there with all this work and all this goodwill that you have going for you. That’s the key. I feel better than I’ve felt in a decade.”

Stamos, who was known for partying, insists that at 52-years-old, he’s trying to grow up just a bit.

“I’m trying, I swear to God I’m trying. It’s not as much fun, but you have to be responsible. It’s about discipline, which I lost for a while. Part of being undisciplined for the past five or six years is that I didn’t work as much as it looked like. I had some high-profile jobs, like a Super Bowl commercial or a few episodes of Glee, but there was a lot of downtime, and that can be, obviously, dangerous.”

As for whether or not the Olsen twins were genuinely shocked by the Full House spin-off news, Stamos still insists that they were asked to come on the show before the news broke.

“Everybody knew about it; everybody was asked. I made sure it became a favored-nations thing, so we all make the same amount. Obviously, the twins have a different thing. We’re doing 13 episodes, so if they want to change their minds, we’d love to have them… but we only need one!”

Despite his struggles, Stamos assured fans that he’s still attached to Full House as a producer and occasional guest star. In fact, the Full House cast celebrated Stamos’ birthday at Lori Loughlin’s house and posted a ton of pictures from the event.

Happy Birthday @JohnStamos . I’m so grateful to have you in my life! Love you tons!! pic.twitter.com/CTkP9klb6d

As the Inquisitr reported, Stamos was pulled over back in June and arrested for a DUI, and then taken to a hospital where he was treated for a medical condition. Shortly after that Stamos went into a rehab facility for a 30-day stay. Prior to checking in to rehab, after his arrest he had tweeted to fans:

Thanks to everyone for their love & support. I’m home & well. Very appreciative of the BHPD & Cedars for their care. — John Stamos (@JohnStamos) June 13, 2015
