Jodi Benson, who is best known for voicing Ariel in The Little Mermaid , said she would be “on board” for a fourth Toy Story film or a spinoff for her Barbie character.
The 51-year-old provided the voice of the Mattel character in Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3 .
In an interview with Digital Spy , Benson said it would be “really fun” to do a Barbie spinoff. She also said of the Toy Story films, “It’s a wonderful, incredible series, and it’s primarily because of the brilliance of John Lasseter and his amazing gift that he has to tell stories.”
Benson added, “It has so much heart to it. We’re hoping that we have a number four. It’d be incredible.”
Back in 2011, Tom Hanks — who voiced Woody in all three Toy Story films — said he was sure Pixar was working on a fourth movie .
“I think there will be, yeah,” Hanks told BBC News . “Yeah, yeah, think they’re working on it now. There you go.”
Fast forward to two years later, and rumors about a new installment still persist . In February, Jorge Luis Balaguera, the entertainment coordinator for RCN Radio, one of the main radio networks in Colombia, tweeted, “In 2015, Pixar will release Toy Story 4, the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack confirmed for the main characters.”
Colombian news site Terra also reported that Disney had announced that it was working on a fourth film that could be released in 2015.
However, a representative for Disney told BuzzFeed that “nothing official” had been announced for Toy Story 4. The rep also said that it was looking into where the rumor originated.
A fourth film also seemed unlikely due to the number of movies Pixar already had on its plate . Monsters University was just released in theaters in June, The Good Dinosaur is due out in May 2014, and Inside Out is due in June 2015.
