By all accounts, Jessica Simpson has no reason to worry about money. Yet according to an OK! Magazine article, the singer/reality TV star-turned-businesswoman has a big fear of going broke. A source who spoke to the magazine said that Jessica’s fear of financial calamity is so great that she has become obsessed with clipping coupons in order to save every penny that she can.

“The money that Jess has made from her fashion lines has her set for life financially, but she still has a crazy fear of going broke.”

The source added that Jessica is so obsessed with saving money that every week, she makes her husband, former pro athlete Eric Johnson, whom she married in July 2014 , and their two children’s nannies look through pages of coupons to find ones that they can use. Perhaps she even watches TLC’s Extreme Couponing for inspiration and tips?

Unfortunately for Simpson’s friends, her penny-pinching ways means that they get some predictable gifts. The source claimed that when it comes to birthday and holiday presents, Jessica simply gives her friends items from her clothing line.

Jessica Simpson first gained fame as a pop singer, with hits such as “I Wanna Love You Forever” and “Irresistible.” She then starred in a popular reality TV show on MTV with her then-husband, Nick Lachey. Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica ran for three seasons. Next, she went into acting, starring in movies such as The Dukes of Hazzard and Employee of the Month .

At the same time that she pursued her acting career, Jessica started getting involved in the retail business. Her fashion line, the Jessica Simpson Collection, now offers products in over 30 categories, everything from shoes to jewelry.

Her careful spending at home may be transferred over to her business and is one of the reasons why it’s so successful. In 2014, Forbes reported that the brand brings in about $1 billion a year at retail , which means that she takes home tens of millions of dollars annually.

At the publication’s Forbes Power Women summit in May 2014, Jessica Simpson explained the reason behind her fashion line’s success, which includes affordability, comfort and dressing for the every day woman.

“I want to make every woman feel confident in what they’re wearing. I do feel like we’re very fashion-forward, but we also listen to the consumer….I have been every size on the planet and I understand women. And I just know how to dress them. I know there’s all different kinds. There’s life in the whole world beyond LA and New York. I understand Middle America and their mindset.”
