Jessica Alba says a double corset was her secret weapon against the difficult task of dropping her post-baby weight.
After giving birth to two children, the actress decided to take the old-fashioned approach to weight loss.
She said it worked out very well.
“I wore a double corset day and night for three months,” Alba told Net-A-Porter magazine. “It was sweaty, but worth it.”
So while a double corset seemed to work for Jessica Alba, she said it was definitely a “no pain no gain” technique.
“It was brutal; it’s not for everyone,” she says.
It may have been brutal, but it’s become par for the course in Hollywood where actresses are not only expected to shed their baby weight quickly, but also spill all the details about how they did it to eager tabloids.
With that behind her, Alba told Glamour that she’s going to focus on taking fewer but more serious roles .
“When you have kids, you kind of think, I don’t need to work just to work. I want to sink my teeth into a character that makes it worth not being with my kids, or not being at the office. Having kids, having strong relationships with my husband, my friends, that it is my priority… that’s what really defines me, not a tabloid or a movie opening or a poster or an endorsement.”
Alba’s work to get herself into great shape is already leading to some big roles. This October she’s reprising her role as Nancy Callahan in the Sin City sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill Fo r.
“I just finished the best movie I’ve ever done,” Alba gushed about the sequel. “It was so opposite to what I do [at home]. My approach to acting now is so different – I’m fearless because I have nothing to lose. Before [children] my identity was wrapped up in every decision – now, I don’t care. It could be a pile of s**t and you could think it was the worst thing you ever saw, but I still had the best experience.”
It seems that for Jessica Alba, wearing a double corset has paid off, E! News notes. Aside from the big roles she’s grabbed, the mom was back wearing a tiny bikini and “looking amazing” after birth, the publication noted.
