Supernatural ‘s Jensen Ackles has been on the convention circuit and, while Ackles has certainly been eager and available to respond to questions from Supernatural fans, Jensen did take the time to indulge his own singing ambition. This wasn’t the first time Ackles has been encouraged to sing. Who can forget Jensen belting out Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” in one episode of Supernatural ?

Do we even need to mention the Supernatural anthem, Kansas’ “Carry On My Wayward Son”?

In fact, Ackles, much like his Supernatural character Dean Winchester, has been a long-time fan of classic rock with no qualms about belting out the lyrics to his favorite songs in impromptu sing-a-longs. According to Entertainment Weekly , Jensen’s latest performance was given at VanCon, a Supernatural convention in Vancouver, Canada. The song chosen was Lynyrd Skynyrd’ “Simple Man,” and, if the crowd’s applause was any gauge, Jensen was a big hit.

Speaking about Supernatural and the upcoming season 11 premiere, Ackles divulged more information on the darkness unleashed in Supernatural ‘s tenth season finale. Although it seemed the darkness was going to be an all-consuming thing, Jensen says that may not necessarily be the case.

“As of right now we have it built as one specific entity, obviously that would be a character that we’re introducing.”

Confirming what has already been revealed by the Supernatural showrunner, Ackles said that the entity is definitely going to be a female villain, possessing pre-biblical forces.

“We don’t know the scope of her powers.”

Design & Trend reports that this new villain will seem entirely undefeatable and it seems the Winchester brothers will have to look to outside sources for help with this one.

“This one’s interesting because it’s not really a monster,” Supernatural ‘s Ackles said. “It’s more of a primal force that we know nothing about. There’s no lore; there’s no guidebook; there’s no instruction manual on how to deal with this.”

Meanwhile Jared Padalecki, Jensen’s Supernatural brother, jumped in to suggest that the Winchesters might have to turn to God for the answer, literally. It makes sense, since God is the only one to ever have defeated the darkness.

“I think [the Darkness] certainly opens the door for Lucifer and/or God to pop up,” Supernatural’ s Padalecki said. “Since we know God’s a scribe, we may have to invite him along for the ride.”

The season premiere of Supernatural is scheduled to air on Wednesday, October 7 on the CW network.
