By now, we know that Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer are BFFs. They go on vacations together, they dance at Billy Joel’s concerts together, and they’re even writing a film together. So, it was only natural that Lawrence get a mention at the Emmys, right?
Lawrence wasn’t at the Emmys last night, but she was there in spirit to cheer on her best friend Amy Schumer during her big night. Schumer, who was nominated for three Emmys last night, took home Outstanding Variety Sketch Series for her comedy central sketch show, Inside Amy Schumer .
Schumer, who made one of the night’s most memorable speeches, got a text from her bestie Lawrence. In true J.Law fashion, the actress, who’s had her own candid moments on the rest carpet, texted her with a backhanded insult after Amy won. Schumer clearly amused with the sentiment told Entertainment Tonight , “Jennifer sent me a really sweet text. She said I looked pretty, but not smart.”
During Schumer’s speech, she had some touching moments about not selling out, but the highlight of her speech to many was the joke she made about her makeup stylist. During the speech she made a shout out to, “this girl who gave me sort of a smoky eye – I really love it.”
As for when you will see Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer on screen together, you’ll have to wait a bit. Schumer said on the red carpet, “She’s the real deal funny. My sister and Jen and I wrote a movie together so we’re gonna hopefully be shooting that in a year or something. We’re busy!”
During an interview with the New York Times , Lawrence let the cat out of the bag.
“We play sisters. We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now.” She continued, explaining her creative relationship with Amy. “Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day of on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up. I’m flying out tomorrow to see her in Chicago. We’ll write a little bit with her sister, Kim, who worked with Amy when she was writing Trainwreck.”
