Jenelle Evans and Barbara Evans’ custody battle will reportedly be filmed for the upcoming eighth season of Teen Mom 2 .
According to a new report, Jenelle Evans and her mom are set to battle it out for custody of seven-year-old Jace in a North Carolina court on Wednesday and Thursday and as their drama plays out, MTV will be filming as much as they are legally able.
“MTV will be with [Jenelle Evans] at court,” a source close to production confirmed to Radar Online on May 24. “No cameras are going to be in the courtroom during the hearing, but MTV will film before and after and get immediate reactions from Jenelle and her mom.”
Jenelle Evans’ mother has had full custody of her oldest child since shortly after he was born but now that the reality star claims to be more stable than she was when she gave birth to Jace in 2009, she’s hoping to win back custody. Meanwhile, Barbara doesn’t want her grandson taken out of the home he’s known for years and is prepared to fight back against her request.
Jenelle Evans’ relationship with her mother has been strained for year and earlier this month, as she celebrated Mother’s Day with her two younger children, two-year-old Kaiser and four-month-old Ensley, Barbara reportedly kept Jace from spending time with her.
“She ignores my calls and texts and took Jace and hid from me all day in her house locked up. No lie,” Jenelle Evans said of her disappointing Mother’s day.
While celebrating with her two youngest children, Jenelle Evans posted a few photos of her family online and told fans, “#HappyMothersDay to me! The kids and David made me this homemade chalk board for our house and even drew one awesome picture on it.”
“I’m in love! This day didn’t go the way I imagined but there will be many more to come in the future. #Hopeful #GoodVibesOnly #Family,” she continued.
In addition to sharing Jace with her mother, Jenelle Evans shares her middle child, son Kaiser, with her ex-fiance, Nathan Griffith, and her youngest child, daughter Ensley, with her current fiancé, David Eason.
Jenelle Evans and her mother have been involved in a custody battle for years but this week, their drama will reportedly come to an end when a judge makes a final decision about who Jace should be spending the majority of his time with.
During an interview with E! News last month, Jenelle Evans said that despite her strained relationship with Barbara, she understands that her son has a bond with his grandmother.
“Jace doesn’t have a ‘side.’ He loves me and my mother equally and that will never change,” she told the outlet. “I’m ok with that, too. I tell Jace and explain that me and my mom try to get along, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out. I don’t argue or even raise my voice in front of him anymore. If she makes me frustrated, I’ll simply hang up—no need for all of that extra stress.”
Jenelle Evans went on to reveal that her mother holds a grudge against David Eason.
“I have no idea why my mom feels this way towards David, but I’m thinking it might be a jealously issue,” she explained.
Jenelle Evans and her family, including her mother, Barbara Evans, are currently in production on the eighth season of Teen Mom 2 . The new season is expected to air sometime later this year on MTV.
