Jenelle Evans and her mother, Barbara, are seen at odds over the custody of Jace on the upcoming Teen Mom 2 Season 6 finale. In a sneak peek at tomorrow night’s finale, shared by Us Weekly on September 23, Jenelle Evans meets her mom at her South Carolina home, where they discussed their current custody situation.
Although Jenelle Evans’ conversation with Barbara starts out civil enough, the two women eventually butt heads over what they should do with their pending court case.
“I just think that we have to come to some kind of agreement or something or talk to the lawyers and tell them we want to just hold off about this court thing right now, don’t you think?” Barbara asks Jenelle Evans.
However, Jenelle Evans isn’t ready to agree to drop her case for custody, claiming she’s unsure of what she would agree to when it comes to custody terms. Still, Barbara feels Jenelle Evans’ life isn’t stable enough for her 6-year-old.
“You always think that I don’t ever want to give you Jace and it’s not that. I just want what’s best for him right now and your life is like a… You know, you haven’t made a plan yet. You’re not settled.”
“It’s not that I don’t have a plan,” Jenelle Evans replies. “I just have to wait to see if I get certified, when I get certified, if I get a job, when I get a job.”
As Jenelle Evans’ conversation with Barbara continues, Barbara alleges it was Nathan Griffith, Jenelle Evans’ then-fiance, who pushed them towards the custody battle they are currently in. Jenelle Evans, meanwhile, disagrees, claiming she made the decision to pursue custody of Jace on her own.
Just last month, during a radio interview with Morning 107.5, Jenelle Evans spoke of her ongoing custody battle with Barbara. According to a report by The Ashley’s Reality Roundup , Jenelle Evans claimed at the time that she and Barbara were not planning to go to court. While Jenelle Evans filed documents to obtain custody of Jace months prior, she revealed to the radio hosts that she rarely speaks of going to court with her mother as it is a “touchy subject” for Barbara, who has had full custody of the boy since soon after his birth.
