Jerzy Janowicz almost reached the Wimbledon final today by beating Andy Murray. He was leading 4-1 in the the third set and was playing fantastic. But then things fell apart. Janowicz had a bit of a meltdown and allowed Murray to make a comeback.
The 22-year-old Polish tennis player lost five consecutive games, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 6-4, 6-3, then watched Murray celebrate as he advanced to the final at Wimbledon.
Janowicz said : “Such a shame I didn’t play my best tennis today… I was struggling a little bit with my serve. Everything basically collapsed after this one point when we were 30-all, third set, (4-2) for me.”
Janowicz may have had a meltdown at Wimbledon today but Murray is confident that the young tennis player has a very bright future ahead of him. Murray said that Janowivz was a very good player and represented the future of tennis.
Murray said: “He’s obviously young. He has a huge game. He moves very well for his size. He’s very athletic. I think his physique is kind of the future of tennis, the way guys are getting bigger and moving better, as well… He’s very unpredictable. He has a lot of power, but he also has good feel. He has a lot of drop shots. He very rarely misses them.”
