Congratulations Jamie Lynn Spears … or should we say Jamie Lynn Watson! That’s right, Jamie is officially a married woman!
According to E! News , Jamie reportedly married her fiancé James Watson on Friday, March 14, at the Audubon Tea Room in New Orleans, just a little over a year since they announced their engagement.
E! had previously reported that Jamie and James filed for a marriage license on March 5, and were given 30 days to use it. So, while they tried to keep their nuptials as quiet as possible, there was already speculation that it would be happening sometime this month.
Pop superstar, and Jamie’s big sister, Britney Spears, along with her boyfriend David Lucado, was spotted catching a flight to Louisiana to be there for her little sis’ big day. Earlier in the week, Jamie and her mother Lynne were seen at a nail salon prepping for the wedding.
Jamie Lynn wore a beautiful gown by Liancarlo, and was accompanied down the aisle by James. Her four-year-old daughter Maddie served as the flower girl, and we can assume that Britney was the maid of honor. Britney’s two sons Jayden James and Sean walked down the aisle together as the ring bearers. “Jamie Lynn and Jamie were very mellow,” an eyewitness told US Weekly . “[They] spent most of the evening chatting with friends.”
This is the first marriage for both Spears and Watson. Jamie was previously engaged to Maddie’s father Casey Aldridge, but they later separated in 2010. Jamie shocked her fans, while she was starring on Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101 , when she announced that she was pregnant at the age of 16.
During a 2013 interview, Spears opened up about how she handled finding out she would soon be a mother when she was only a child herself.
“I was riding around in my mom’s little convertible and I had not been feeling well. I thought it was just stress with work and all kinds of different things. My friend was like, ‘Why don’t you just take a test?’ I was like, ‘Okay, I will.’”
“We were filling up with gas, so I went in the gas station and took the test and it was positive. So that is the glamorous way that I found out I was going to have my little nugget!”
Now that Maddie is older, Jamie is working on her singing career, and is aspiring to be a country music artist. Jamie recently sat down with Country Music is Love, and explained how important it is to her to be able to share her talent with the world.
“It’s really exciting because I’m sharing my story,” Jamie said. “All these songs mean so much to me. It’s a very sensitive thing for me. Whenever I play my shows I usually cry at some point because the songs mean so much to me. It’s a happy cry. I’m finally able to share these things with my fans. It means a lot to me.”
