We finally know what’s wrong with Titans quarter back Jake Locker. A second MRI Tuesday revealed the rising star has a sprained hip that will sideline him for a few weeks.

The news is exactly what the Titans were hoping to hear. With Locker under center this season, Tennessee is off to a 3-1 start.

The team released this statement about Locker’s injury, “The area will need time to heal and strengthen, but he won’t require surgery and he has already begun a rehab routine for both his hip and knee. We certainly would expect him to miss a few weeks, but we are encouraged by the news today.”

Before the hip sprain, Jake Locker was playing the best football of his career. In four game this season, he threw six touchdowns and zero interceptions. He was playing smart, lights out football.

Locker’s replacement, Ryan Fitzpatrick , led the league in interceptions two seasons ago. If he continues his turnover prone ways, it could spell an end to the Titans’ season. Which is exactly why it’s good news Locker will only miss one month.

Jake Locker sprained his hip in the fourth quarter of the Titans 38-13 Sunday win over the New York Jets.

Tennessee plays the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs next, a game that Fitzpatrick will have to play smart football to win. The Chiefs quarterback, Alex Smith, doesn’t turn the ball over much, and Kansas City’s defense is one of the best in the NFL.

Jake Locker is the reason the Titans are 3-1, and tied with the Indianapolis Colts for first in the AFC South. The quicker his sprained hip heals, the better chance the team has to make the playoffs. Hopefully there are no setbacks in his rehab, and he gets back on the field healthy and ready to pick back up right where he left off.
