As one of the most popular players in the NFL, it seems as if J.J. Watt dating rumors would run rampant across the internet. Watt, with his prowess on the football field, good looks, and seemingly genuine acts of kindness, could be seen as one of the most eligible bachelors in the NFL.
And yet, there seem to be few rumors about J.J. Watt’s girlfriend swirling around. Sure, there were rumors earlier this year about J.J. Watt dating Caroline Wozniacki , but aside from those brief rumors, there’s been relatively little about J.J. Watt’s girlfriend and his love life.
Perhaps that’s because, according to Watt, he doesn’t have a girlfriend. In fact, Watt told NFL.com that he doesn’t have much success dating at all.
“People [I know] think that I’ve never dated before, or whatever. But I’m trying. I’m trying . I’m just unsuccessful. My schedule’s so crazy and life’s so busy, it just hasn’t worked.”
As Watt mentions, it’s not for lack of trying, but he acknowledges that it’s sometimes difficult to ascertain the motives of a potential girlfriend. In addition, Watt acknowledges that the lifestyle he wants in the future is totally different than the lifestyle he lives today — which means his girlfriend would have to be able to adjust to that lifestyle change.
“When I picture myself after football, it’s down home, coaching high school football, just a relaxing, normal life. And the problem with that is, I still have this life now. So you can’t have somebody that’s just gonna be OK in that life, ’cause you have to deal with all this craziness right now. So it’d have to be somebody that’s OK with the craziness now, but also is gonna be perfectly fine sitting on the couch watching a movie on a Friday night, having a bonfire on a Saturday night, not doing anything. And that’s hard to find.”
The defensive end for the Houston Texans said during the NFL.com interview that he absolutely wants to have a wife and children some day — but he wants to wait until the time is right.
“Trust me, I would love to have a wife and kids. I would very much enjoy that. But I also know that you have to be in the right place to do that. You have to find the right situation, and you have to be in that right mindset where you can give everything you have to that. Because whatever I do, I want to be the best at. I want to be the best husband. I want to be the best father. And I need to make sure that I have figured out the proper balance in my life so that I can give the proper time and energy that’s needed for that situation.”
