Israeli Gangnam Style: Jewish Soldiers And Arabs Celebrate Together [Video]

Israeli Gangham style hit the streets of Hebron this week when Israeli soldiers on patrol stumbled on an Arab wedding in Hebron.

Hebron is a city not too far from the capital of Israel and has many thousands of arab residents and a small enclave of Jewish Israelis. In Israel, military service is compulsory, when boys, and girls reach the age of 18 they have to serve in the army. Boys serve for three years and girls for two.

The soldiers filmed dancing in the Israeli Gangham style viral video were from an elite Israeli paratrooper unit, who were on regular patrol in the city. When they heard the music they entered the club and began dancing with the revelers there.

At one point, as can be seen in the video, one of the soldiers, in full Israeli Defense Force regalia, including helmet and uniform, was picked up onto the shoulders of one of the people on the dance floor.

The Jerusalem Post reported that the club was “frequented by members of a Palestinian clan known for its pro-Hamas tendencies.” This didn’t seem to stop the Israeli soldiers for entering for a quick Gangham style boogie.

The soldiers from the Israeli army’s elite Givati Brigade have been suspended pending a full military investigation of the incident. The army says the soldiers endangered their lives unnecessarily by their actions.

What do you think of the Israeli Gangham style incident? Do you think it’s a good thing that Jewish soldiers and Arabs danced and celebrated together? Or did the soldiers put themselves in a situation of unnecessary risk? Share your comments in the feed below.
