Rosie Perez admitted to People magazine that she could be persuaded to return to The View as a guest host, if the opportunity were ever made available to her.

“I think I will be back to visit the ladies,” Perez added, speaking of The View hosts. “I love them, and I love the show, it was just time.”

Rosie left The View in August with the intention of focusing on her acting career and, while Ms. Perez still feels she made the right decision, she says her departure was bittersweet. Ms. Perez was the first Latina to co-host The View, and she once reflected on how her heritage affected her career as an actress and a talk show co-host.

“Most of the criticism I got early in my career was from the Latin community. They used to take me out to lunch and tell me, ‘Can you go and take lessons to lessen your accent?’ or ‘When you’re on a talk show, can you not be so funny and loud?’ People gave me so much c–p about my voice, and I tried. I really did try to change, but it was the way I spoke,” Rosie said. “As I got older, the octaves dropped, thank God. Now I find it flattering if a sixteen-year-old comes up and starts imitating me.”

Speaking of her time on The View , Perez admits her experiences with the show were “crazy, it was fun, it was hard, it was everything. It was like life,” according to Entertainment Weekly .

The current line-up for The View , upon its September 8 return, will consist of Candace Cameron Bure and Good Morning America Weekend co-anchor Paula Faris, along with Whoopi Goldberg, Raven-Symoné, and Michelle Collins. Joy Behar will also be returning to The View for its 19th season.

Since leaving The View , Perez has been working on the Maris Curran drama Five Nights in Maine , which also stars David Oyelowo and Dianne Wiest.

“A young African American man, reeling from the tragic loss of his wife, travels to rural Maine to seek answers from his estranged mother-in-law, who is herself confronting guilt and grief over her daughter’s death.” – IMDb.

Five Nights in Maine will premiere on September 13 in theaters.

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Rosie Perez was introduced to acting when she was cast in Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing (1989) and followed that up by performing in a string of films, including her role as Carla Rodrigo in Peter Weir’s Fearless (1993).
