iPhone 4S Doesn’t Get Along With International Questions, Promises 2012 Improvements

If you happen to be using the iPhone 4S in Canada, Japan or other countries that don’t start with the words “United States” you’re not going to get the full experience until 2012.

A recent Rogers Canada customer asked SIRI the simple question “What time is it” and because the phone doesn’t yet recognize regions outside the United States they received back the answer, “I have no idea what time it is in 3700 – 3708 Boul Saint Jean. Sorry about that.” Siri also failed to answer the question “Where am I” by responding “Sorry Rene, I can’t provide maps and directions in Canada.”

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who actually read Apple’s “Terms of Service (TOS)” that the features for Business search (from Yelp), directions, Wolfram Alpha search and traffic data are not yet available, Apple Siri FAQ clearly state that international language support for Japan, China, Korea, Italy and Spain are still in the works along with access to the program in other parts of the world.

Once other languages and thereby regions are supported maps and local search features will follow.

You would think that with all of their worldwide integration know-how from various other programs that they have created over the years Apple would have switched on support for those countries earlier, if not fully at least in terms of telling the time.

How are you getting along with Siri at this point? If you want to check out some funny answers Siri has given users to various questions visit HERE .
