‘Homeland’ Season 4 Trailer Released: Spoilers, Premiere Date Revealed [Video]

Showtime has released a first look trailer for the fourth season of Homeland . The hit drama will be returning to your living room on October 5 (via Facebook ) , and will more than likely have some surprises in store. The trailer doesn’t give too much away, but it does show a bit of Carrie Mathison (played by actress Claire Danes) living in Pakistan, and her continued work with Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) and Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend).

Naturally there are a lot of things that people are curious about — and there have been a few spoilers released that should better prepare you from what’s to come: Warning! Do not read any further if you don’t want possible plot and character lines to be ruined for you!

According to The Latin Times , Carrie and her baby are going to be a major part of Season 4. Since actor James Rebhorn passed away, it is unlikely that Carrie’s father (Frank Mathison) will have any further part on the show — at least not this season. While her father did offer to care for her unborn child (believed to be the child of Nicholas Brody), it seems obvious that Carrie will now need to find another solution for how to care for her kid — and keep her job with the CIA (she reportedly is getting a promotion).

So here’s what has been suggested: The season will start off a bit further ahead then where it left off — Carrie will have already given birth (to a baby girl!) and will already be living in Pakistan. Carrie won’t be alone in Pakistan, either. As you can see in the trailer above, Carrie will be working closely with her “team” of choice: Quinn, Fara, and Virgil. Max may also have made the move to help Carrie out on this new mission. It appears as though Carrie does not take her daughter to the war-savaged country.

Homeland spoilers also reveal that Carrie’s mental condition will be a problem for her from time to time throughout the season. Oh, and that Brody might be alive. Wait. What?! Well there has been some fan speculation that something crazy like this would happen. Brody’s character (played by actor Damian Lewis) was very likable and fans were shocked when he was hanged. But did he somehow survive the hanging?

Executive showrunner Alex Gansa said:

“All the evidence points to his death, undoubtedly. I encourage [doubters] to watch the episode again. The issue has been settled. He is not unkillable.”

However, you really never know. That said, Brody’s family (who people got completely sick of in Season 3) will not be back in Season 4 at all. Actresses Morgan Saylor (Dana) Morena Baccarin (Jessica) are no longer a part of the show. That doesn’t mean that they won’t come back in the future (especially if Brody is somehow alive), but it would only be for guest appearances — it is unlikely that they will become part of the cast full time again.

Homeland Season 4 will introduce a lot of new characters, but none will be taking the place of Brody or moving into a lead role. Carrie’s life will completely change in Pakistan, so what you see at home is also going to change. However, the characters that you love will still have as much airtime as before (except for Brody… for now), so the show will still keep you hooked from the get-go.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , Showtime’s Homeland was nominated for a couple of Emmy’s . Claire Danes has been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and her co-star Mandy Patinkin is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Are you excited for the new season?
