The HGTV Dream Home 2014 competition is now open, giving viewers a chance to win a fully furnished home and total prize package worth $2 million.

Though there are sure to be millions of entries, there is a tip fans can use to greatly increase their odds of winning. The key lies in the entry process, and HGTV has hidden a loophole deep within the rules that can dramatically increase the chances of winning.

Most fans who read about the contest know the facts — they have until February 14, 2014, to enter the HGTV Dream Home 2014 competition. Fans can submit two entries each day, one at HGTV.com and another at FrontDoor.com.

But a careful reading of the rules for the HGTV Dream Home 2014 contest reveals a potentially game-changing loophole. While the online entries are limited to two per day, contestants who decided to send their entries by snail mail have no limit. Hand-written entry forms can be sent to HGTV Dream Home Giveaway, P.O. Box 51544, Knoxville, TN. 37950.

This year’s home is set among 100-year-old evergreen trees a few minutes away from scenic Lake Tahoe, California. The lucky winner will get not only the keys to the state-of-the-art home but also wins a 2015 GMC Yukon Denali, and $250,000 courtesy of Quicken Loans.

The 3,200-square-foot home is meant to blend contemporary architecture with a natural feel. Fans looking to enter the HGTV Dream Home 2014 contest can check it out here or get the scoop straight from HGTV:

“Set in the Schaffer’s Mill community, with breathtaking panoramic views of the Carson Range that separates California and Nevada, the HGTV Dream Home 2014 includes three bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths on one-third of an acre. As part of the “New Mountain Architecture” design by Ward-Young Architecture of Truckee, Calif., the house is designed with two sections: a living wing and a bedroom wing with glass and sliding door systems to create a direct connection between the home and nature. The home also features materials indigenous to the area, including wood, steel, glass and slate that add to the rustic and natural feel.”

The HGTV Dream Home 2014 episode airs January 2 at 5 pm.
