Heather Locklear’s daughter, 15-year-old Ava Sambora, stepped out with her much older twin to attend the Thursday premiere of Scary Movie V at Hollywood’s Arclight Cinerama Dome.
Ava’s father is Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, 51-year-old Locklear’s second husband.
Despite the palindromic ages, there’s a reason that more 51-year-olds don’t stand next to 15-year-olds when they’re getting their picture taken, even if they’re gorgeous Melrose Place alums like Locklear. Several observers said that the pair looked more like sisters than mother and daughter. Yeah, except one sister is way older and has abused way more drugs and alcohol.
In 2008, and again in 2011, Heather Locklear was rushed to the hospital, reportedly for treatment for overdoses on prescription drugs. Rumors of attempted suicide flew around, although the star’s representative denied them.
So it wouldn’t be very nice of me to say that Locklear’s eyes look pretty red, especially next to Sambora’s fresh-faced baby blues. Anyhoo, it’s probably just my evil imagination, right?
Ava Sambora started modeling at around age 12 for her father’s fashion line, White Trash Beautiful. What a guy, and what a name. But the work led to bigger and perhaps more tastefully titled gigs, since she made her acting debut in Judd Apatow’s comedy, This is Forty.
In any event, both Heather Locklear and daughter Ava Sambora wore similar but not matchy-matchy looks — sky-high heels, lots of leg, and extremely high hemlines. Locklear wore nude-colored heels which helped to add a little extra height to her already lean legs, while Sambora wore a more daring multiply strapped stiletto-heeled sandal.
It seemed clear that the two were inviting comparisons, although it’s a dangerous game for a woman over 50.
As for Ava Sambora, she’s a beautiful girl, but would she already be famous if she wasn’t Heather Locklear’s daughter?
