Harley Quinn And Deadshot Join ‘Injustice 2’ Squad

A pair of Suicide Squad members have joined up with NetherRealms Studio’s DC Comics fighter, Injustice 2 . Harley Quinn was confirmed to return via a new trailer released by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and she is joined by newcomer Deadshot.

Obviously banking on the success of the Suicide Squad movie, NetherRealms and Warner Bros. revealed the two villains who sometimes break good on Wednesday in a trailer timed with the Gamescom convention taking place this week in Cologne, Germany.

Harley Quinn is, of course, the Joker’s sometime sidekick, sometimes love interest, and all-the-time crazy. She was a part of the original Injustice: Gods Among Us roster, and her alternate universe character played a meaningful role as part of the insurgency against the authoritarian regime run by Superman.

The Joker’s paramour has some new tricks up her sleeve for Injustice 2 . She still has her giant mallet, guns, and uses various explosives, but she’s added the baseball bat from the film along with a pair of hyenas that were more often seen in Batman: The Animated Series and the comic books.

Tara Strong returns to voice Harley Quinn, and the trailer shows a number of outfits will be available for players to unlock. She also appears to remain a lithe and agile fighter compared to most of the Injustice 2 roster.

Will Smith didn’t wear the Deadshot mask much during the Suicide Squad movie, but it looks like the character will spend much of his time wearing it in Injustice 2 . He naturally has a collection of guns he uses, including his wrist-mounted guns that he can use in various ranged and close-up attacks along with a large assault rifle for one of his special moves.

Deadshot was recently added to the Injustice mobile title, but this will be his first appearance in the mainline console series. His movement style and speed look to be on par with Batman — just with more guns.

Harley Quinn and Deadshot join a growing Injustice 2 roster. Superman, Batman, Flash, Aquaman, and Supergirl were part the initial heroes announced along with the villains Red Lantern Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd. Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle were then added to the line-up a few weeks ago.

Injustice 2 continues the story introduced in Injustice: Gods Among Us as Batman and his allies work towards putting the pieces of society back together while struggling against those who want to restore Superman’s regime. In the midst of the chaos, a new threat appears that will put Earth’s existence at risk.

The game will introduce a new Gear System to provide alternate costumes to each of the characters. Players will be able to earn gear through loot drops as they progress through the game and complete matches. This gear allows characters to be customized with unique looks. Gear also enhances a character’s abilities by making them stronger and faster, giving them more defense or giving them more health. It is also possible to unlock new moves with certain pieces of gear.

NetherRealms states there will be over 1,000 gear options for each character, allowing them to swap different costume pieces such as arms, legs, chest armor, capes, and shields. Players can choose whether they want to fight other players online with or without gear. However, the Injustice 2 Tournament mode will block gear from being used in matches.

Injustice 2 is scheduled to be released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime in 2017. An Android and iOS release are also planned following the success of the Injustice mobile title.
