Harley-Davidson have issued a voluntary recall notice for their 2013 motorcycles. The company issued a “Do Not Ride” notice and dealers have received a “Do Not Deliver” notice on models built between May and October of this year.

Roughly 25,000 Touring bikes are recalled, here are the codes: (FLHTCU, FLHTK, FLHTP, FLHX, FLHXS, FLHTKSE, and FLHRSE.) About 4,000 Softail® CVOs and Trikes (FLHTCUTG, FXSBSE, and FLSTNSE) have also been included in the Harley-Davidson recall.

The company posted a press release on their website where General Manager Toby Wilcox said:

The safety of our customers is our highest priority. We have identified potential safety issues and are moving quickly to notify our customers and dealers. The inspection and repair of these motorcycles is extremely important, so it’s critical that our customers with affected vehicles contact their dealers immediately. We apologize for this circumstance. The company is committed to correcting this issue and providing customers with the quality experience and service they expect.

The basis of the recall is over concerns with the hydraulic clutch on the motorcycles. Apparently a fault has been noticed by riders when they disengage the clutch , affecting the deceleration of the bike. Obviously Harley are concerned about this as riders of the recalled bikes may not be able to come to a halt quickly enough.

Harley-Davidson are urging owners who may have purchased one of the defective models to come forward and have their bikes undergo a thorough inspection. The company will of course pay for the inspection, the repairs, and then delivery of the bike to the owner .

If you think you may have purchased one of the motorcycles which falls into the latest Harley-Davidson recall then click here for more information on how to contact Harley-Davidson directly.
