Google wants content creators to be acknowledged and to make that fact a reality the company is now indexing authors and showcasing their picture and name next to Google search results.
The program requires that specific markup language be placed on each creator page, at which point Google uses the authors Google profile to pull in their name and main display photo.
The program is “opt-in” meaning each website must include Google’s special markup language on each webpage, at which point an author and all of their articles are searchable with their personal information.
The program is only available in “beta” at the moment but is expected to roll out over the next several months as a standard piece of operation.
