A Girl Scout cookie thief has been arrested for reportedly stealing $19,000 worth of Girl Scout Cookies. Christopher Maurice Morton is accused of taking over 450 cases of cookies from a warehouse in Spartanburg, South Carolina where he was employed.

Morton, age 37, reportedly stole the cookies at some point during the last weeks of February. Employees taking inventory discovered that 450 cases of Thin Mint and Shortbread/Trefoils were missing from the storage facility.

As reported by Fox News, Brian Carey, owner of Carey Moving and Storage reported the theft on February 26 . Morton had access to the cookies as he reportedly worked as a driver for the company. Carey became suspicious of Morton after reviewing invoices and recorded video from a security camera.

Authorities eventually recovered 352 of the 450 missing cases. The cookies were found by Greenville County sheriff’s deputies behind an empty building. Deputies arrested Morton and charged him with “breach of trust of more than $10,000.”

Morton is not the only Girl Scout cookie thief arrested in the last month. Twenty-year-old Colin Sawyer was arrested for stealing a bag of money containing $550 in proceeds from a cookie sale outside a grocery store in California.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the young man rode past the girls on his skateboard and grabbed a bag containing the cash they made selling Girl Scout cookies throughout the day. One of the Girl Scouts attempted to chase the suspect but tripped and fell on the ground as Sawyer skated away.

Police released surveillance footage of the theft in an effort to identify the suspect. Sawyer was eventually arrested for the crime. He reportedly plead not guilty.

Girl Scout cookies are only available for about eight weeks every year. They are baked by one of two different bakeries, ABC Bakers and Little Brownie Bakers. According to the Girl Scouts website, Thin Mints are the best selling Girl Scout cookie .The yearly sale is highly anticipated by the Girl Scouts and fans of their cookies.

Unfortunately some people don’t want to pay for their cookies. Morton and Sawyer were both arrested for crimes involving Girl Scout cookies and are facing criminal charges. Neither defendant has admitted a motive.
