Love him or hate him, you can’t deny that George H.W. Bush has a heart of gold. The former US President this week shaved his head to support a two-year-old cancer patient.
Bush and several members of his secret service detail shaved their heads on Wednesday and then met with the young boy who is battling leukemia.
A photo of the newly bald 89-year-old former POTUS was released by his official office on Wednesday. The president and his workers went under the razor to show solidarity for young Patrick.
President Bush has a personal history with leukemia. Bush and wife Barbara lost their first daughter, and third child, to leukemia nearly 60 years ago. Their daughter was only 4 years old when she lost her battle with cancer.
George H.W. Bush and wife Barbara also made a donation to www.patrickspals.org , a website setup to help the family pay for medical expenses.
That isn’t all the good Bush and his Secret Service workers are doing for the family. On August 10, they are holding the Inaugural Patrick’s Pals Motorcycle Benefit Run in Maine. The Motorcycle run will include a 50-mile motorcycle ride through the countryside. After the ride, lunch will be served alongside a silent auction. Money raised from the event will help pay for young Patrick’s treatments.
For privacy reasons, the boy’s last name has not been revealed by the Bush family or the Secret Service.

Whether you agreed or fully disagreed with the decisions George H.W. Bush made as the President of the United States, it’s hard not too feel a sense of appreciation for the man after reading this story.
