A very generous stranger is hitting some Utah bars and leaving never before seen tips. We’re talking $1,000 and $5,000 dollars, which left staff at the establishments completely speechless.

Both tips were left using an American Express card in two different Ogden, Utah bars located on 25th street.

The first incident came on August 17, when a customer at Brewskis left a $5,000 tip on a $214.75 bill. The following night a similar situation took place when someone using an American Express tipped $1,000 on a $49 bill at the bar Alleged.

A tweet was shared by Scott Schwebke a reporter from the Orange County Registrar as proof.

Jarred Allen, owner of Alleged, told the Salt Lake Tribune the staff was completely floored and the tip was split between three bartenders and one server.

Typically bartenders are not expected to share tips, Allen added.

“I let staff decide how they want to do it. They all seem to be really generous with each other.”

Allen said his brother, who was working on the lower level of the bar that night, was so excited that he texted him telling him of the stranger’s generous tip.

“I clarified the amount with him several times via text.” Allen said.

Allen also said that when his brother was alerted, he confirmed with the customer several times to make sure he wasn’t intoxicated.

The tip had to be handled as a separate purchase since the iPad system the bar uses for payments only allows up to 100 percent tips on bills.

“He seemed like just a guy who does well for himself and chose to share it with others,” Allen told the Huffington Post . “It was really generous of the guy and he jumped through hoops to do it.”

According to Huffington Post a liquor rep who was with the man, confirmed he had left both tips.

Allen said he heard reports that the generous man left another $1,000 tip at a local golf course, making the beer cart girl cry.
