The name Michael C. Hall ushers up images of a vigilante serial killer from his days as Dexter Morgan on Showtime’s Dexter . The well known TV series aired from 2006 until 2013 and won several awards over the years.

Dexter was a far cry from the role award winner Michael C. Hall will be picking up as of October 16.

This month, Michael C. Hall will begin playing the title character in Hedwig and the Angry Inch .

As you can see, from the above pictures, Hall will be covered in glitter for the role, portraying a transgender rock star left with an “angry inch” after a not-quite-complete sex-change.

Michael C. Hall will be playing opposite Tony Award winner Lena Hall.

The state of the images leads fans to believe that Michael C. Hall intends to accentuate the hurt the character is suffering through more than anything else.

According to The Hollywood Reporter , “his facial expressions — a furrowed brow in one shot, and a straight-on look into his eyes in another — showcase the deep pain and hurt of his character rather than the enticing attitude of the rocker that has been captured by the show’s now-signature open-mouth pose.”

Hedwig was recently portrayed by Andrew Rannells, who will continue as the character until October 12, and Neil Patrick Harris, who spat water at an audience member who was being annoying, according to The Post .

The news that Michael C. Hall would be starring in Hedwig and the Angry Inch spread when HedwigOnBway tweeted that the “gangs reunited to get our newest girl ready,” with a picture of the cast and Hall

Fans of Michael C. Hall have also tweeted their interest in the show and seeing Hall as Hedwig. People are wondering about the transition Hall will have to make from his previous rolls into this one.

Hall’s engagement with Hedwig and the Angry Inch will be limited and will end January 4.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr , this is not the first time Michael C. Hall has been credited with work on Broadway. This year, he starred in Will Eno’s production of The Realistic Jones . Other than that Hall’s appearances on Broadway are from near the beginning of his career. Hall played the Emcee in Cabaret (2000) and Billy Flynn in Chicago (2002).

Michael C. Hall will also be voicing Leonard Swett in the 2015 documentary, The Gettysburg Address .
